Data Source

The School Status & Improvement Report (SSIR) is one of several major reports produced by the Hawaii Department of Education (HIDOE) as part of their effort to provide regular, easy-to-understand accounts of school performance and progress across the state. Individual reports are prepared for each of the 288 HIDOE schools annually, and contain information on the school setting, school improvement, available resources, and vital signs on school performance. Reports spanning back to 1999 are available as PDFs through the DOE Accountability Resource Center.

Data Viz

Hawaii Data Collaborative culled data from 1,440 total reports from 2015-2018 for all HIDOE schools, and integrated it into a single interactive visualization that lets viewers explore the SSIR indicators across all schools. Curious to explore the interactive dashboard for the HIDOE School Status & Improvement Report (SSIR) Indicators? Start by choosing the school type(s) you’re interested in, select an indicator and year, and hover over the points on the map to see more information on that school.
